It seems as though the future Mr. Christian Grey has been off the market for quite some time. Charlie Hunnam, who has just been signed on to play the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey, has been dating jewelry designer Morgana McNelis since 2007.
McNelis' line, Maison de Morgana, specializes in mixed metal jewelry, with hints of her boyfriend's Sons of Anarchy biker style.
The hunky actor has been able to keep his real-life romance fairly out of the public eye, but that may soon change with his increasing star power once the highly anticipated film hits the big screen.
The two have graced a few red carpets over the years, but for the most part McNelis has remained on the sidelines to support her beau. And while the longtime couple clearly has some staying power, it's also apparent that he has some serious onscreen chemistry with his new costar, Dakota Johnson.
In fact, the two had to undergo a "chemistry read" before any contracts were signed, according to The Wrap.
And it appears that the two passed the screen test with flying colors.
No word yet on exactly how the two auditioned for the roles, and ensured that they were a good match for the characters from E.L. James' bestseller, but we're sure to find out once the film hits theaters.
Until then, we're left with only our imaginations…and the steamy trilogy for reference.
Fifty Shades of Grey will be released Aug. 1, 2014, with sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed presumably to follow in subsequent years.
