Those Directioners do fandom right.

One Direction performed on Today Friday, Aug. 23, and an estimated 18,000 (!) fans took over New York's Rockefeller Plaza—and several side streets, actually!

Obviously, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and the newly-engaged Zayn Malik did not disappoint! The guys performed "That's What Makes You Beautiful," "Best Song Ever," "Kiss You" and "Little Things" all to the delight of their massive, adoring crowd.

Zayn even opened up—OK a tiny bit—about his fiancée Perrie Edwards. 'We're engaged," he said shyly. "We're really happy. And, yeah, that's it."

Niall, adorably, shifted the focus away from his bandmate, telling Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie, "I'm pregnant!"

"That's exclusive to Today," he quipped, clearly still having fun with his and Harry's ongoing joke. "I think that's bigger than you guys being in the movie."

Ah, yes, the 1D boys have been on Today three times now are clearly fans of the show. Yet, somehow, Matt, Savannah and the morning gang didn't make their way into This Is Us.

"We didn't have anything to do with that!" Liam said with a laugh. "We asked for it."

Of course they did! And on Aug. 30, we can see everything that did make the cut for the boys' 3-D movie when This Is Us opens nationwide.

(Today and E! are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)
