Just three days after David Arquette called in to Howard Stern's show to admit he is drinking and smoking weed again after staying sober for two years, Stern is reacting to his pals surprising announcement.

"My feedback is that I love David Arquette," Stern tells E! News exclusively. "He's a fantastic guy. If you'd ever get to interview him or know him, he is salt of the earth. One of my favorite people in the world."

"And I trust that David is a grownup and knows what he needs to do and that's what he conveyed to me," he added. "Right now, whatever he's going through, I'm always there for him."

Arquette, 41, has publicly battled issues with substance abuse in the past. He checked himself into rehab back in January 2011.

He opened up during Monday's airing of The Howard Stern Show, saying, "I'd been sober for two years and four months and feeling that I wasn't being that true to myself, like what I enjoy and this and that."

"My problem with being honest with you and talking to you is that people are going to take all this and just be cruel with it," Arquette said. "The whole game of life, I got it. It's called the kindness game and kindness is the new currency. Love is the new currency. People are so cruel to each other throughout the world, everyone is always, like, trying to get over on someone else. And it's really about being kinder."

Last night, Arquette was out at Hollywood hot spot Hooray Henry's, where he was spotted drinking while hanging out with friends in a private booth. Also out there last night was Alex Pettyfer (sans Riley Keough) and Kristin Cavallari.
