Behold the heroic instincts of Oz.

Ready to lend a hand, Dr. Mehmet Oz rushed to the scene of a grisly car accident earlier today in Manhattan in which a woman's foot was severed when a cab jumped a curb and ran into her.

Oz, who doles out his medical expertise on a daily basis on his hit syndicated talk show, later described what went down and was quick to give a shout-out to a fellow civilian who helped save the day while they waited for paramedics to arrive.

"While in a meeting in our offices near Rockefeller Center, I heard an accident occur on the street below," the former Oprah Winfrey Show contributor wrote on Facebook.

"A taxi driver lost control of his cab and collided with a woman, badly injuring her leg. David Justino, a plumber from New York, took action, removing his belt and using it as a tourniquet. With the help of NYC first responders, who are the best in the world, the woman was treated and rushed to a local hospital.

"I applaud the quick thinking and heroic actions of David and the first responders. My prayers are with the victim for a speedy recovery."

According to the New York Daily News, the victim was a 23-year-old British tourist who had just grabbed a hot dog from a street vendor with a friend when she was hit by the cab.

"Her left leg was severed off, the other was mangled," Justino told the paper. "She was conscious the whole time, the poor thing...I wish she would have passed out."

She was reportedly taken to Bellevue Hospital—as was her left foot, which was put on ice in hopes that doctors could reattach it.

Oz, whose jeans and T-shirt were spattered with blood, told the Daily News that he also checked on the cab driver after the accident and he "looked dazed." Police are investigating what happened.
