If it weren't for Simon Cowell, there would be no One Direction.

But in 2010, the dad-to-be put Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson together into a boy band during the boot camp portion of the U.K.'s X Factor. And on Tuesday, Aug. 20, the boys' 3-D documentary This Is Us premiered in London, and Simon, 53, couldn't have been any prouder.

"This is a dream," he said, per the U.K.'s Mirror. "I feel like a father."

Feeling like a father is something Simon should get used to, seeing as he's actually going to be one in the coming months! On July 31, E! News confirmed the star and NYC socialite Lauren Silverman are expecting a child.

Another first for Simon, though, is being a producer on a feature film. "I always dreamt when I was kid one day I could produce a movie, so this is fantastic," he said. "It's the first one and hopefully won't be the last, I wasn't the only producer there were lots of people involved and the band produced the movie as well. It was an incredible experience."

Simon—and all of the boys, of course—made sure to thank the many, many Directioners who'd camped out at Leicester Square for days leading up to the release of the movie. Harry, Zayn, Liam, Niall and Louis spent hours signing autographs and posing for pictures with their devoted fans.

That's what makes them beautiful!
