Fans Mistake Mark Wahlberg for Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg Says, "Close Enough"

The Departed actor takes to Facebook to laugh about the mix-up with his former costar

You say tomato, I say Mark Wahlberg. 

The 2 Guns star is probably used to being approached by excited fans, but recently he was approached by fans who were excited to meet...Matt Damon.

"We saw Matt Damon," Angelique Dormevil texted a friend and attached photos of her and her mom posing with Wahlberg. The friend responded with a picture of what Damon actually looks like.

"He didn't correct us at all lmao," Angelique texted back.

The texts were uploaded to the Internet and eventually made their way to Wahlberg himself, who posted the screenshot on his Facebook page with a smiley-face emoji and wrote, "Close enough." 

"Haha I can't believe this went VIRAL! Sorry for the mistake," Angelique commented on the post. "My mom and I saw him and I yelled out Matt Damon. I knew all his movies but I confused the two awesome actors. This is awesome that he posted this."

To be fair, Wahlberg and Damon costarred in The Departed together, and recently both are attached to biopics of Boston mobster Whitey Bulger (Wahlberg's earned him an invite to meet Bulger in prison, while Damon's will be directed by best friend Ben Affleck). 

At the end of the day, there are worse people to mistaken for than Matt Damon, People's Sexiest Man Alive, 2007.
