Lauren Silverman—who is currently married to Andrew Silverman and pregnant with Simon Cowell's child—and Brooke Mueller attended the same Miami high school in the early 1990s, where the twosome ran in the same circle and were pals in the popular clique.
Former classmates of the attractive twosome tell the Mail on Sunday the socialites "would go to parties together and hang out all the time" and were "very selective" in choosing members of their group, which consisted of the music mogul's baby mama, Charlie Sheen's ex and a few other popular girls at Miami Country Day School.
"They used to look down on people who were not worthy to be in their group," a former student tells the Mail on Sunday. "They had a real superior attitude, I guess you could call them snobs. They were not the friendliest people to be around but you wouldn't call them a mean girl type group. They just thought they were more superior to other girls."
But Mueller and Silverman's friendship isn't the only shocking relationship that reportedly went down at Miami Country Day.
E! News confirms there was a scandal at the private Florida school where Silverman alleged she had an inappropriate relationship with English teacher Steven Lewis, but their short-lived liaison ended after Lauren's mother learned of the twosome's relationship.
"Lauren's mom found evidence and contacted the school and after that the school took action against the teacher," a source tells E! News.
After the incident, Lewis left Miami Country day, while Lauren reportedly transferred to University School, Davie, 20 miles north of Miami.
The controversial details of 36-year-old's past have come to light after it was revealed that the brunette beauty is pregnant with Cowell's child, although she is technically still married to her real estate developer hubby.
Cowell's former friend filed for divorce from his wife on July 23 and reportedly named Simon a co-respondent in the divorce papers, citing adultery as a cause of the breakdown of their marriage.
Andrew has since broken his silence on the pair's affair, telling E! News in statement, "My top priority is protecting my 7-year-old son while working to resolve all outstanding issues with my wife. Hopefully people can respect the interest of our child during this process."
Lauren, who was spotted showing off her tiny baby bump after lunching in Southampton, N.Y., today, has also commented on the controversy, "I am committed to sorting things out with Andrew as amicably as possible to ensure the well-being of our son," she said in a statement released to E! News by her attorneys, Bernard Clair and Robert. "I would hope for some space and privacy in order to work through this."
Simon, however, has stayed relatively mum on the baby mama drama, telling reporters he has "to keep this private for the moment" at the Fox TCA press tour.
