Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg's 2 Guns blew away the Smurfs.
The Universal Pictures action flick topped this weekend's box office, taking the No.1 spot with $27.4 million in its debut weekend.
2 Guns also knocked The Wolverine down from the top spot, with the superhero film pulling in $21.7 million in its second week.
Meanwhile, the Smurfs 2 debuted in third with $18.2 million, falling short of analysts' expectations, but the animated flick did do well overseas, raking in $52.5 million in 43 international markets.
The Conjuring followed in fourth at $13.7 million, along with Despicable Me 2 at $10.4 million.
Sundance and indie film favorites like Fruitvale Station and The Spectacular Now continued to bring in strong numbers, with Ryan Coogler's drama nabbing $2.7 million and James Ponsoldt's dramedy raking in $190,000 in four theaters.
Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine also fared well, nabbing $2 million in only 50 theaters.
Lindsay Lohan's The Canyons opened up this weekend as well, bringing in $15,200 in one theater.
