Simon Cowell was spotted Wednesday night in Los Angeles where he was snapped leaving The X Factor studios just hours after the news broke that he is expecting a child with Lauren Silverman, who is currently married to the music mogul's (former?) friend Andrew Silverman.
The 53-year-old producer declined to comment on the baby-mama drama as the paps snapped pics and congratulated the father-to-be, who appeared stoic and pulled together, despite the current pregnancy scandal.
While this is his first public outing since the shocking baby news, the TV star only has more work coming his way, as he's also expected to be at 2013 Summer TCAs Press Tour today to discuss season three of The X Factor.
Yesterday, E! News confirmed the former American Idol judge is expecting his first child with the New York City socialite, and a source tells E! News their controversial relationship began about six months ago.
Silverman is reportedly around 10 weeks along, and her husband filed for divorce July 23.
"He was friends with Lauren and her husband but things developed between them," the source explains. "Lauren and her husband had a messy split and Simon became a shoulder to cry on for her."
The pair was even photographed house-hunting together in October, long before Lauren became pregnant. The insider adds Simon "really likes" the brunette beauty and is "very fond" of his baby mama.
"Lauren has been special to him...He never really wanted kids but these things happen," the source says. "Simon and Lauren have amazing chemistry."
In the wake of the controversy, celebs have congratulated Cowell and expressed their support for the soon-to-be first-time parent.
Jennifer Hudson said her one-time mentor is going to be "an amazing father," while pal Carmen Electra (who was previously romantically linked to the music mogul) is "so happy" for the daddy-to-be.
