Where in the world is Nick Brody (Damian Lewis)?!

That is the question heading into Homeland's highly anticipated third season...and the focus of the first trailer for the new season that Showtime released on Monday.

While most of the 30-second promo is visual-free, save a black screen with a few glitches, sound bites tease what fans can expect from Brody, Carrie (Claire Danes) and Saul's (Mandy Patinkin) Sept. 29 return.

"Survive." Who knew one word could give us such chills?!

That is the word being repeated at the end of the new promo, which follows audio of Brody asking, "Does Carrie know I'm here?" and later saying, "I just need to get my strength back." Hey, at least we know we'll still be seeing a lot of America's Most Wanted man in season three, but can we trust him? One phrase Brody says in Arabic translates to: "I am a Muslim lost in this world. Help me come clean again."

In the season two finale, Brody was forced to leave Carrie and go on the run after he is blamed for a horrific terror attack. According to Showtime, "Carrie and Saul begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives" and are soon "swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding...the search for Brody's whereabouts."

Homeland returns Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
