The 32-year-old Veep star has given birth to a baby girl named Penelope Joan, a rep for the actress confirms to E! News.
Chlumsky, whose role alongside Macaulay Culkin in the 1991 flick My Girl shot her into stardom, and her husband of five years Shaun So, also 32, welcomed their new bundle of joy on July 11, People confirms. The baby girl was born in NYC. "Thank you to the amazing doctors and nursing staff at #StLukesRoosevelt," Chlumsky tweeted today. "Your care and expertise are inspiring. Super people."
"She's a really good mix between my husband and me," Chlumksy tells the mag of little Penelope. "When she's with him, you see him, and when she's with me, you see me. She's a perfect mix."
"We think she has my mouth, but it's hard to tell," she continued. "Even the color of her eyes, they are different in different light. But she has a really full head of hair."
Adding to the excitement of the sweet baby news, Chlumksy scored herself an Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series this morning for her role as Amy Brookheimer, the vice president's chief of staff, on the hit HBO show Veep! Chlumksy's Veep costars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale also scored Emmy noms for Lead Actress and Lead Actor respectively.
"I am proud as can be of everyone on this show," Chlumsky tells E! News of the nom. "We have a marvelous time at work, and to know people in our community are noticing that is the best kind of encouragement. I feel that way individually, as well. Truly appreciative that folks dig my work. I love doing it, and being noticed for it puts a nice spring in the step. So, congrats to Julia, Tony, and all the cast and crew. It'll be fun to get dolled up again, nay?"
So how's the actress adjusting to motherhood? "I'm really surprised how real it is," she admits to People. "What's really strange is how fast it happened. You prepare for so long, and all of a sudden the baby's here...It's seriously the best thing. Holding her is fantastic. It's one of the more enjoyable things. It doesn't get boring at all. I could hold her all day."
