Karlie Kloss knows a thing or two about how to look incredibly stylish.

After all, this leggy beauty does work with some of the biggest and best designers in the biz—Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabanna, Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta—oh, and not to mention, she's a Victoria's Secret model, too.

So how does she spend her time when she's not working the runway? She's shopping of course!

On the weekends you can find this gal hitting the trendy boutiques in NYC or jetting between shops in L.A.

We tapped the fashion superstar on the red carpet in New York City recently to get her three rules on summer shopping.

Here's what  Karlie shared with us:

1. Get a Great Swimsuit. You always need a fabulous swimsuit for the beach. "I like to buy something I feel so sexy in," Karlie says. This summer, try a swimsuit in a bold color like emerald or fuchsia to really standout at the beach or pool.

2. Splurge On Sunglasses. Even though Karlie has too many sunglasses to count, she always opts for the classics. "I love a classic pair of sunglasses like a Wayfarer," she says. Not into the James Dean-inspired style? No worries! We adore oversize or cat-eye styles, too! Our suggestion? Buy a more expensive, polarized pair that won't break. That way, you'll be able to wear them summer after summer.

3. Scoop Up Strappy Sandals. The best shoe to wear in July? Sandals, of course! They're cute, and keep your feet cool. "You can't go wrong with a great pair of sandals for summer," she says. "That's all I wear!" Our tip: Buy a strappy metallic option. Something with a slight heel if you're feeling a bit daring.

A striking pair of sandals pairs with a classic pencil skirt and button-up blouse for work, or transitions well into the weekend with a cute pair of cut-offs and a comfy tee for the weekend.

Talk about double duty!

Excellent advice, Karlie! What are you buying this summer?
