And among the last places the Glee star visited was the Vancouver eatery East of Main Café, where he dined Thursday with Canada-based casting director Maureen Webb and his manager Elena Kirschner.
Kirschner posted to Twitter a photo of Monteith during that get-together, a now haunting image of the thespian in silhouette, seemingly gazing out the window.
"@eastofMAINcafe and @projLimelight Great meal with good friends. @maureenwebb Oh. And this guy. @CoryMonteith," tweeted Kirschner.
Monteith however relished the evening well enough that he subsequently retweeted the pic and used it in his Twitter profile.
Webb later replied back via her Twitter page: "Thanks for a great evening @CoryMonteith and @slimyagent! #Inspiring"
Meanwhile, reports have since surfaced that Monteith was spotted out Friday night partying at two popular Vancouver nightclubs—The Roxy and the Queen's Republic Nightclub.
E! News has since confirmed that Cory did, in fact, turn up at The Roxy, a favorite hot spot of his in the past.
"I believe he showed past midnight with a group of friends," said a source. "To my knowledge they were all males. They were in for a few drinks, but it was a packed house so I can see how they would go unnoticed. He's been here a few times, so it's not that big a deal when he arrives."
The insider, who did not see Monteith imbibing, added that his pals were not famous either, noting the group "came in low-key" and didn't stay that long.
A separate source close to the investigation into the actor's death also confirmed that he "hit at least one club" that night and had returned alone to the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, where he had been staying the past week, a little after 2 a.m.
Reps for The Roxy and Queen's Republic nightclubs were unavailable for comment.
Monteith—who lived in Vancouver before getting his big break in a 2004 episode of Stargate Atlantis and eventually moving to Hollywood—had returned to his former hometown in April where he and girlfriend and Glee costar Lea Michele attended a Vancouver Canucks playoff hockey game.
A box office sales rep for Rogers Arena where the NHL team plays told E! News about how kind Monteith was to fans who approached him that day.
"He was with a female and looked very happy to be at the game," said the witness. "A few people asked for autographs and he kindly did so."
While his Glee costars and millions of fans around the world mourn the passing of the 31-year-old star, a source with Vancouver PD told E! News Sunday that authorities were expediting the toxicology tests and autopsy in order to determine a cause of death and hoped to release the results within two or three days.
UPDATE: The Roxy later released the following statement:
"We were deeply saddened by the news of Cory Monteith's recent passing. We join the thousands of Vancouverites in extending our heart-felt condolences to Cory's family and friends during these difficult times.
"We have received several calls from the media after speculation was made that Cory visited The Roxy Nightclub on the evening prior to his death. This rumour was looked into by our staff and to the best of our knowledge, Cory Monteith was not a patron in our establishment that night.
"On behalf of The Roxy Nightclub and its entire staff, we extend our deepest sympathies to Cory's family and friends, as well as, his fans around the world. Words fall short of expressing this true loss."
