It doesn't take much to make these two stunners red carpet ready. But, it looks like both Selena Gomez and Diane Kruger both reached for the same black eyeliner and nude lip gloss when hitting their respective red carpet events last night.
While Selena went for more drama by using the black eyeliner to create a thick line on both her upper and lower lashes and waterline, Diane opted for a more subtle look by limiting the black eyeliner to thin lines and softening with taupe eye shadow.
Both beauties knew to keep their eyes the focus by slicking on a creamy, shiny nude lip gloss and accentuating their cupids' bows for extra oomph.
Get Selena's Look: Prep upper eye area with a primer and/or concealer. Then apply a matte off-white or ivory shadow like Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in Ivory to entire area.
Next, use a waterproof black kohl eyeliner pencil like Smashbox Always Sharp Waterproof Kôhl Liner to make a thick line along your upper lash line from the inner corner to the outer corner, making the line twice as thick towards the outer corner. Use a smudger or your finger to smudge the line upwards towards your crease (this gives you that sultry smoky look).
For the bottom, use the eye pencil to create a thin black line along your lower lash line from inner to outer corner. This time smudge upwards, blending the liner into your lash line. Then take the eye pencil and line both your upper and lower water lines.
To get Selena's pouty nude lip, start by exfoliating your lips with a sugar scrub like Fresh Lip Polish, which will buff away dry flakes and leave your pucker softened and conditioned. Then line your entire lips (not just the outline) with a nude liner. This gives your lip gloss something to adhere to and will ensure it stays in place.
Get Diane's Look: Begin with the same prep process as above (see first paragraph in Selena's Get the Look). Next, apply a shimmery or frosty taupe eye shadow like MAC Eye Shadow in Satin Taupe to your lids (stop at the crease). Use a matte brown shadow like NARS Matte Eyeshadow, Bengali in your creases, making the shadow more concentrated in the outer corners. Then blend the shadows upwards and outwards to give your eyes a faint winged effect.
For the eyeliner, use a black eyeliner pencil or gel eyeliner like Tarte Aqualillies for tarte Amazonian clay waterproof liner in black to make a thin line along the upper lash line. Then smudge liner into lash line to soften. On the lower lash line, only line from the outer corner to mid-eye (this gives your eyes a more "wide open" look) and then line your water line. Use a flat eyeliner brush to apply the taupe eye shadow over the eyeliner and blend with a smudger or your finger.
To get Diane's pretty pout follow the exact same directions as Selena's. Their lips are so identical they could have shared the same lip gloss!
It's pretty obvious that this sultry black-lined eyes and nude lip look is flattering on both brunettes and blonds alike, whether your eyes are dark like Selena's or light like Diane's. But who do you think wore this look best? Vote in our poll below!
