Kristen Stewart showed she was finished shedding tears by rocking some heavy-duty dark smoky eyes with blue highlights to the Chanel Fashion Show in Paris.
Kristen's makeup artist blended the dark eyeshadow out into soft wings at the outer corners while the inner corners shimmered with metallic blue highlights. Um, amazing.
And guess what? This blue smoky eye doesn't just rock green eyes. Try this look with blue, brown, or hazel—it flatters the whole rainbow of eye colors!
Get the Look: Start by prepping your eyelids with either a primer or concealer to ensure your makeup doesn't fade or budge. Note: if you skip this step, don't come crying to us when the dark makeup travels down your face and makes you look like you got into a street fight.
Next, apply a richly pigmented black eyeshadow like CoverGirl Queen Collection 1 Kit Eyeshadow, Black Tie Q150 at the lash line with a small domed brush, from the outer corners to where your eyeball ends (so you're basically covering two-thirds of your lash line with the black). Then, blend the eyeshadow upwards towards your crease to get that gradient effect.
Now, take that same eyeshadow brush and blend the shadow from both the upper and lower lash lines outwards and upwards at the corners to create a subtle wing. If your wing isn't dramatic enough for your taste, use an eyeliner brush dipped in the black eyeshadow to create a V from the outer corner of your eye up into the crease. Then, blend the V outwards to intensify your wing.
Next, use either black gel eyeliner or a kohl black pencil to outline your entire eye, both upper and lower lash lines. And if your eyes aren't too sensitive, use the eyeliner on your waterline as well.
Once you're done lining your eyes, apply a shimmery metallic blue or teal eyeshadow like Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Hijack – Deep Metallic Teal in a V-shape in the inner corner of your eyes. Then use the small domed brush to blend the blue metallic shadow outwards over your lash lines to give your entire eye area more sparkle and dimension.
Tip: Intensify your shimmering smoky eyes by dipping your ring fingertip in the metallic shadow and then pressing the inner corner of your eyes. Then blend outwards. Finish off this sultry look by applying a few coats of your favorite mascara.
