Just call him Chris Rock-a-bye-baby.

Mr. Pootie Tang is on diaper duty as he and his wife, Malaak Compton-Rock, welcomed their first child, a girl, Friday in New York City.

The couple named their daughter Lola Simone. Rock's publicist declined to divulge any other details.

Rock met Compton in 1993 and they tied the knot in November 1996. They reportedly separated briefly in 1998 before reconciling. The couple currently live in Brooklyn.

After launching his career on the stand-up circuit, Rock hit it big on Saturday Night Live. He was Emmy'd for his HBO series, The Chris Rock Show, which ran five years before he left for a movie career. Rock's big-screen credits include Lethal Weapon 4, Nurse Betty, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Down to Earth and Pootie Tang.

His most recent film, the spy comedy Bad Company with Anthony Hopkins, opened to middling business this month. The 36-year-old actor will head to Maryland later this year to begin work on the comedy Head of State, in which he stars as a presidential candidate.

Compton-Rock, 32, is a former publicist who now runs her own nonprofit that helps women on welfare find jobs. She was named as one of the top 40 New York executives under 40 by Crain's magazine last year and has also appeared on Oprah for her work.
