Nick Stahl is back behind bars again.

The Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines star was arrested Friday morning at 5 a.m. by police in Los Angeles for alleged possession of methamphetamines, E! News has learned.

An LAPD spokesman tells us officers were conducting probation searches at a motel on Wilcox Avenue in Hollywood when they stumbled on Stahl, who was hanging with three other people they were checking on. After a search turned up the meth, they took the 33-year-old actor into custody.

No word when he'll get out, but the news comes as just a day after he told TMZ he was grateful he was placed on an involuntary 5150 psychiatric hold in an L.A.-area hospital earlier this month.

The actor is no stranger to drug abuse having been in and out of rehab the last few years and gone missing on several occasions. His behavior has landed him in trouble with the law as well—whether getting collared for stiffing a cabbie out of an $84 fare in March 2012 or getting popped at an adult movie store for allegedly committing a lewd act in February of this year.

Stahl spent a night in the slammer and paid a fine in the former case, while no charges were ever filed in the latter incident, due to insufficient evidence.

In April, Nick was also searched by the LAPD at a bus stop during a routine sweep of L.A.'s crime-ridden skid row area, though no drugs were found.

Recognizing he's got a problem, Stahl checked himself into rehab last year only to skip out and disappear for four days much to consternation of his wife, Rose, and his family.

A rep for Stahl could not be reached for comment.
