What kind of father is Steve Carell? Pretty easygoing...so far.

E! News caught up with the funnyman during the Despicable Me 2 premiere over the weekend, and Carell explained that he could somewhat relate to his character Gru in the film, who has three daughters.

"She is a fantastic person and I love her," the star said of his 12-year-old daughter, Elisabeth Anne.

"I hope I'm not the overprotective dad that Gru is. We'll see. I still have a little bit of time before that happen," he added.

Not that much time, however, since his li'l lady will soon be entering the crazy world of being a teenager. But Carell is slowly preparing for what's to come.

"I'm trying not to go into it with fear, but more resolve than anything," he said.

Good plan (and good luck), Steve.
