Serena Williams Rolling Stone interview has landed her in hot water once again, but this time it's because of her comments about Maria Sharapova.

Williams originally criticized the blond tennis star and her boyfriend, Grigor Dimitrov, which left a bad taste in Sharapova's mouth.

During a pretournament press conference on Saturday, the tennis star went on the defense and fought back at Williams' comments.

"Obviously I have a tremendous amount of respect for Serena and what she's achieved on the court; if she wants to talk about something personal, maybe she should talk about her relationship and her boyfriend that was married and is getting a divorce and has kids," she said.

"Talk about other things, but not draw attention to other things. She has so much in her life, many positives, and I think that's what it should be about."

Williams originally told the music mag, apparently referring to Sharapova: "She's not going to be invited to the cool parties. And, hey, if she wants to be with the guy with a black heart, go for it." The guy in question was undoubtedly Dimitrov, who is one of Williams' rumored exes.

The interview also featured controversial comments made by Williams about the Steubenville rape case, which were met with a lot of negative feedback.

The tennis champion has since expressed remorse and regret for her comments on both subjects.

"One of the first things I did was reach out to the family [of the 16-year-old Steubenville rape victim]. Not only that, I made it a point to reach out to Maria as well, because she was inadvertently brought into the situation by assumptions made by the reporter," she said during a pre-Wimbledon news conference on Sunday.
