YouTubeDemi Lovato is known for her honesty and straightforward talk about the issues she has battled in the past. She's also no slouch when it comes to showing appreciation for her fans.
So, it's really no surprise that she gave concertgoers a massive proverbial group hug while onstage at the B96 Pepsi Summer Bash in Chicago on Saturday night, where she took time out from singing to talk about undergoing treatment near the Windy City in 2010.
"A couple years ago, it's no secret, I had to go into treatment for a bunch of issues," Lovato told the crowd. "I mean, I could name them all, [but] we ain't got time. I had to go away to treatment and I want to let you know that this treatment center is called Timberline Knolls. It was here in Lemont, Illinois."
Lemont is a historic village located about 27 miles southwest of Chicago.
"Every time that I play Chicago, I don't know what it is," the returning X Factor judge continued.
"Maybe it's because I felt so much love here and I've been through so much. I just want you guys to know that when I come to Chicago, I never forget that this place is the place that saved my life. If anybody out there is dealing with an eating disorder, substance abuse, cutting, bullying, whatever it is—I want you guys to know that I've been through it and that I've gotten through it and you can do it too."
Gotta love Demi and her role model ways.
