Has there ever been a sadder tale than that of Sally Draper (Kiernan Shipka) and her father?

Mad Men's Don Draper (Jon Hamm) continued his impressive campaign for TV's worst father ever in the AMC hit's last episode when his daughter Sally walked in on him having...relations with their neighbor, who happens to be the mother of her crush. Ouch. And ew.

E! News chatted with the ridiculously poised and fashionable Shipka at the Women In Film Crystal & Lucy Awards, where Mad Men's ladies were honored with an award, and she tells us that viewers have become pretty protective of Sally...

"I've gotten a lot of people coming up to me saying how bad they felt for me," Shipka says of the response she's received from fans since last week's episode aired, "which is kind of cool because I feel like all these characters get different reactions whether people love to hate characters or if they relate with them."

And some fans feel so strongly for poor Sally Draper that Shipka tells us they just want to console her.

"Someone came up to me the other day and was like, ‘I just want to give you a hug so badly!'" Shipka recalls. "It's so nice to see that it translated that well!"
