Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Trial: Katherine Jackson Accused of "Extortion"

CEO of AEG Live testifies that he believes the case against his production company is a "shakedown" for money

Katherine Jackson isn't the one on trial, but Michael Jackson's mother may be feeling that way.

At least after Tuesday's testimony by the head of AEG Live.

While on the stand in a Los Angeles courtroom, CEO Randy Phillips was asked by Katherine's lawyer if he thought the wrongful death case was "a baseless extortion, a shakedown of AEG Live."

Per the New York Daily News, Phillips replied: "Yes or no answer? Yes."

The case, now in its sixth week, was brought by Katherine on behalf of her son's estate against concert promoter AEG Live. She claims AEG Live negligently handled her son's medical care by hiring Dr. Conrad Murray and therefore played a role in the pop star's death from a propofol overdose.

AEG Live has denied being Murray's employer, calling the lawsuit "preposterous."
