Sir Patrick Stewart boldly went to a pizza parlor and then tweeted the tale.

A day after declaring to the entire universe that after 72 years on this planet he had finally tried his first slice of pizza ("authentic NY fold," as he put it along with a twitpic immortalizing the moment), the Star Trek: The Next Generation star has tweeted a clarification.

"To clarify: 1) I've never had a "slice" 2) I've been a Habs fan all of 4 weeks 3) I'm also a fan of Bloomberg's soda legislation," Stewart tweeted.

While we're not quite sure what he meant by putting the word "slice" in quotation marks (maybe he only eats pies?), the erstwhile Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his comment about being a "Habs fan" referred to the Montreal Canadians hockey team whose hat he's wearing in the shot.

Stewart also gave a thumbs up to efforts to curtail the supersized soft drink sizes movie theaters and various restaurants serve in the Big Apple as part of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's ongoing battle against obesity.

But while Sir Patrick's fans are still trying to wrap their head around the fact that he's never indulged in this most American of dishes (sorry, Naples Italy), one person has stepped forward to clear up the whole mystery once and for all as to Stewart's pizza-eating history.

"I saw @SirPatStew eat a slice of pizza 22 years ago. But, to give him his due, he thought it was a hamburger," tweeted Stewart's former Star Trek: The Next Generation costar Brent Spiner.

And who better than Lieutenant Commander Data to know?!
