Good news for George Michael.

The 49-year-old singer "has been discharged from hospital and continues to rest and recuperate" from his car accident May 16, a statement on his official website said yesterday.

The statement also noted that the "I Want Your Sex" singer "is well and thanks everyone for all the messages of support."

Michael was a passenger in a Range Rover on the crowded M1 motorway near St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England, when the vehicle was involved in a traffic accident. His rep issued a statement at the time confirming Michael was hospitalized for "superficial cuts and bruises" but was "fine."

Just last week, his rep told Reuters he remained in the hospital "but purely as a standard precaution for observation because he suffered some bumps and cuts to his head."

We're glad to hear he's on the mend!
