Thank you for being a friend, Jimmy Kimmel!

The late-night host apparently got wind of fellow funnyman Jeff Ross' love for late Golden Girl Bea Arthur because, according to a tweet from Ross, Kimmel was the one who plunked down slightly more than $1.9 million on May 15 for a topless painting of the silver fox.

Which he, in turn, gifted to Ross.

The kitsch-tastic portrait, done by John Currin in 1991, was expected to fetch between $1.8 million and $2.5 million at auction. Lot 13 at Christie's Post-War & Contemporary Evening Sale ended up selling for $1,915,750, but the buyer's identity was not released.

Until now?

There's been no word back yet from Kimmel's rep to ensure that these comedians aren't playing a prank on us, but Ross tweeted today, along with a picture of himself holding his new prized possesion: "Biggest surprise of my life. Thank you @jimmykimmel - the most generous guy in the world! #BeaArthur."

"@realjeffreyross Bea is watching over all of us, but especially you," Kimmel replied. "Amen, brother," Ross agreed.
