Zoe Saldana feels for the editorial team at Allure.

Asked about the backlash the magazine received for revealing the actress' weight on its June cover ("115 pounds of grit and heartache"), the actress chatted about the controversy with E! News at the Cannes Film Festival—and, once again, she said that Allure was simply trying to find a snappy way to contrast her big personality with her slight frame.

"I come really hard, I'm a very aggressive person when you meet me because I am a devout New Yorker and I'm Latina so this is my personality," she tells us. "It's not the first time that people have said, for such a delicate-looking person, you're very tough. And I think that was the idea that they wanted to get across as a compliment to what they saw in me."

Regardless, Saldana still can't quite wrap her head around the heat the mag received, adding, "I don't understand it sometimes. It almost felt like you were just looking for a reason to just be upset at the fact that I allowed myself to be very free and collaborating with a magazine that is known for collaborating with the subjects."

The Blood Ties star then explained the creative process she underwent for the Allure shoot, and how she actively participated in the vision for the cover story and photo spread. She recalled telling the mag, "The more I become comfortable in my own skin, the more truthful I wanna be in terms of who I am."

As for the cover being so controversial...

"OK," she shrugged, "moving on."
