Robin Roberts Receives Standing Ovation at Peabody Awards on Eight-Month Anniversary of Her Bone Marrow Transplant

Good Morning America cohost accepted honor on her show's behalf

If there's anyone who deserves a standing ovation, it's certainly Robin Roberts.

The Good Morning America coanchor received just that when she accepted an award on behalf of her ABC program at the 72nd annual George Foster Peabody Awards at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City on Monday.

The accolade was in recognition of GMA's extensive coverage of Roberts' bone marrow transplant.

According to the The Hollywood Reporter, when Roberts took the stage to accept the award, she noted that it "is eight months to the day since my transplant. So technically I'm eight months old today."

Roberts, also a breast cancer survivor, underwent the transplant to treat the rare blood disorder myelodysplastic syndrome.

In February, she triumphantly returned to Good Morning America.
