A resounding "noooooo!" ran out across the world when (spoiler alert?) Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) was viciously murdered in The Avengers. So when we found out that Phil Coulson would be resurrected for ABC's new superhero series Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we were ecstatic. But you know who was even more excited for Coulson's return? The man playing him!

"I'll tell you, The Avengers was ruined for me when I died," he jokes with us. "I was like, 'wait a minute! This is awfully great stuff but I don't like this last scene!'"

We didn't like it either. But he's back, and ready to kick some television-appropriate-word-for-you-know-what.

"It's the comic book universe, how dead could you be?" reasoned Gregg. "The amazing thing about playing this guy is that the fans kind of clicked with him. He's a bit of a nerd, I'm a bit of a nerd. I couldn't believe I got this gig. He's the perfect blend of snarky and funny and a little bit badass, and I'm really happy to be back playing him."

Just one minor issue: How in the hell did Coulson manage to not die after Loki (Tom Hiddleston) basically stabbed him through the heart?

"Phil Coulson…he lives," Gregg answered coyly. "If you want anything more than that, you're going to have to tune in to the show.

Don't worry about that, Mr. Gregg. For more scoop about one of the most highly anticipated new shows of the season and which Marvel superheroes are on the cast's wish list for cameos, check out our exclusive interviews below!
