Talk about busy bodies! Stars are donning some eye-popping patterns as of late. Here's how to get the look

We're starting to see a pattern here.

Gone are the days of simple polka-dot or striped ensembles. Now stars are mixing and matching prints into eye-popping combos.

While some stars such as Naomi Watts and Kate Beckinsale are opting for wacky geometric prints, others are donning a complete hodgepodge of screen prints, from seagulls to clouds.

"Prints are the new solid," explains celebrity stylist Anita Patrickson. "This summer it's all about prints of any kind—tribal, floral, digital and animal. It's all happening."

The go-to designers of the moment? "Mary Katrantzou and Peter Pilotto are leading the way!" says Patrickson. Indeed, both designer's multiprint duds have been recently worn by Rihanna and Julianne Hough.

Although don't worry if you can't splurge on the big names. Patrickson believes you can DIY the look by mixing and matching budget-friendly patterns. She suggests "starting with one item like a blouse or a skirt and pair that with a solid, and if that is still feeling too overwhelming, just try printed accessories like a bag or a scarf."

Another good rule of thumb: "Don't force anything. Try to match the colors and tones within the print; it needs to be a cohesive mix," she says.

As for accessories, Patrickson says no need to fuss with crazy statement pieces. Instead opt for a bright bag or solid colored pumps.
