Is Klaroline already over before they ever really began?!

That is the question on The Vampire Diaries fans' minds now that the spinoff The Originals has officially been picked up by the CW, which will move Klaus (Joseph Morgan) to New Orleans while Caroline (Candice Accola) remains in Mystic Falls. But is there a chance for a crossover romance?!

E! News' Alicia Quarles chatted with fan favorite Candice Accola about Klaroline's uncertain future, Caroline's reaction to Klaus and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) having a baby together and why TVD fans shouldn't worry about a Twilight-esque birth!

"Now that The Originals has turned into its own separate show, so Klaus will be living in New Orleans. Caroline will find out that he's gone, but she doesn't know why," Accola explains of Klaus and Caroline's current status on The Vampire Diaries, now that The Originals is officially happening. "She doesn't know he's going to be a dad. She doesn't know any of this information."

Still, Accola assures us that Klaroline fans will not be short-changed in the episodes leading up to Klaus' exit, saying, "They will be satisfied. There will be a couple more sweet moments before the season's done!" Whew!

While Accola wouldn't spill Caroline's reaction to Klaus' baby news, she tells us she was personally "excited" by the development. "I knew they wanted to explore a spinoff and I thought this created such a beautiful platform: For one of the oldest vampires in the history of our mythology to all of a sudden have the most human experience of becoming a parent," she says, "and especially because there's so much family legacy and issues between Klaus and [his siblings]. That's all they really wanted and they're actually going to get a chance to do that."

And though Klaus left a sweet voicemail for Caroline saying he hopes to show her around New Orleans one day, Accola says fans shouldn't expect to see the blonde vampire head to the spinoff. "I've gotten a lot of questions as to whether Caroline will be going over to the Originals. Right now, to my knowledge, Caroline will be in Mystic Falls, or she might go off to college," she explains. "We are going to be going into these characters going off to school, so right now I don't really see Caroline jumping on a plane to go to New Orleans."

But that doesn't mean Accola wouldn't eventually want to see Caroline book a possible spring-break trip to the Big Easy. "I think it'd be a blast and I think a lot of shows have had success with it before," Accola says, citing Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, as well as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. "I think it's definitely possible and I think it'd be really fun because I love working with Joseph and Claire and everyone I've met so far who's been cast for The Originals. But I don't see it happening anytime soon."

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday at 8 p.m. on the CW; The Originals will premiere in the fall.
