Warning: If you have yet to watch The Office's May 2 episode, do not read the following article, which contains major spoilers!
We believe this plot development gave us what the kids are calling "feels" these days!
As The Office closes in on its series finale on Thursday, May 16 (Sniff!), the NBC hit sitcom is making some major moves at Dunder Mifflin.
Andy (Ed Helms) left his post as regional manager to pursue his acting career, once again asking the question: Who will be the new manager? Thankfully, fans didn't have to wait long for a very satisfying answer: Dwight (Rainn Wilson) is the new manager!
Yes, after seasons of pining for the gig, Dwight was finally named the boss, prompting a sweet hug from Jim (John Krasinski) and a nostalgia-filled exchange about the "assistant to the regional manager" position, one which Jim accepts. Aw, we live for these moments between Jim and Dwight!
A promotion wasn't the only big development for Dwight: By episode's end, Angela (Angela Kinsey) admits she's in love with her ex! Of course, she admits it to Oscar (Oscar Nunez), not Dwight. Hm...could Dwight and Angela be the couple getting married in the series finale?! Fingers crossed!
And though longtime fans have been sweating it out over the fate of Jim and Pam (Jenna Fischer), given the troubles they've faced this season, the couple isn't going into the finale in complete disarray. On a conference call with reporters on Wednesday, showrunner Greg Daniels said, "We didn't want there to be such anxiety over Jim and Pam that you could think of nothing else during the last episode."
So what went down with Jam? Jim's company received a buyout offer, but it would take him away from Pam and the kids for three months and he tells Daryl (Craig Robinson) he can't be away from them for that long. Of course, Pam overhears him. Ugh, these two are basically the sitcom version of Friday Night Lights' Coach and Mrs. Coach!
What did you think of tonight's episode of The Office? What do you think will happen with Jim and Pam? Sound off in the comments!
