God bless America!

The capital got a dose of glamour over the weekend, as Hollywood headed to Washington, D.C. for the 2013 White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Leaving no room for political scandal in the form of a wardrobe malfunctions, some of our fave looks came from celebs who dazzled in elegant frocks that steered clear of the thigh-high slits and plunging necklines that have become sartorial staples of the red carpet.

Kate Mara and Downton Abbey's Michelle Dockery were alluring despite the high necklines of their gorgeous gowns. Mara looked sleek in a crisp white Prada column number decorated with a darling bow detail at the neckline. Meanwhile, Dockery was pretty in a purple Elie Saab gown that popped against her porcelain skin tone perfectly.

Kerry Washington was hot in a halter dress design by Wes Gordon that proved the oh-so-popular black-and-white trend is definitely here to stay, while Sofia Vergara opted for a colorful look, donning a lively teal Herve L. Leroux gown. The voluptuous Modern Family star, who is known for flaunting her famous curves on the red carpet, kept things relatively tame, showing off the tiniest bit of skin with a petite peekaboo cutout detail.

Also, playing it safe for her standards, a radiant Katy Perry looked gorgeous in a strapless Giambattista Valli dress in green hue. A branch-like belt added trademark Perry quirkiness, while still complementing the overall classy look.
