Jason Aldean and wife Jessica Ussery are officially ending their 12-year marriage.

Aldean cited irreconcilable differences in court papers that were filed in Williamstown County, Tenn., on April 26, E! News confirms.

While the couple's marriage hit some public rough patches over the past year, it seemed last week that the country crooner's marriage might have reached its end.

Alden released the following statement to E! News: "This is a really tough time for my entire family. Jessica and I have been together since we were teenagers. We've been through a lot of ups and downs over the years as we grew together as a couple. She will always be important to me because she is the mother of my children, and I know that we will both always make our daughters our No. 1 priority."

Both Jason and Jessica tried to make their marriage work after Aldean was caught kissing former American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr last September.

At the time, Aldean issued a public apology and admitted that he "acted inappropriately."

He told his fans, "I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys."
