TODAYIn Martha Stewart's case, love is a good thing—and she misses it.
Appearing on Monday's Today show, the domestic diva opened up about her latest venture—jumping into the online dating scene by signing up for Match.com.
Cohost Matt Lauer revealed Today plans to chronicle the 71-year-old Stewart's quest to find a new mate, and in "the spirit of adventure," the kitchen maven turned to the dating website's CEO Sam Yagan for helpful advice.
"Do you think I could possibly, maybe, find a match like many of my employees?" the Match guru said.
"What we know we can get you is some great first dates," answered Yagan, though he was quick to lower expectations. "I think finding a soulmate for you might be a little difficult. But I think first dates are easily doable."
When Lauer proposed she put up a Martha Stewart profile, the Match guru had a better suggestion.
"I personally wouldn't. I would recommend not putting your true identity out there or your picture out there only because I think it would be distracting to those initial conversations you have," he said. "Where everyone would be about talking to Martha as opposed to really getting to know the person first."
"And then I might get some crazies?" wondered the business magnate and TV star.
As for what she's looking for in a relationship, Stewart was surprisingly candid.
"I'd like to have breakfast with somebody. I'd like to go to bed with somebody. Sleep with somebody," she confessed.
Stewart's nephew, Dan Slater, who recently married Martha's niece Sophie and just wrote the book Time of Algorithms: What Technology Does to Meeting and Mating, was also present and offered that this was nothing new.
"The first time I met Martha, we spent most of the evening talking about her past suitors," he said.
