Are ducks the new zombies?!

A&E's reality hit Duck Dynasty shows no signs of slowing down as the season-three finale brought in 9.6 million viewers, a new record for the network. The episode was also the network's most-watched telecast among all key demos, bringing in 5.6 million adults 25-54, 5.5 million adults 18-49 and 2.6 million adults 18-34.

In fact, the finale was watched by so many people that the episode actually topped American Idol in the adults 18-49 rating, garnering a 4.3 rating while the Fox reality singing competition pulled in a 3.2 rating.

Duck Dynasty actually beat its own ratings record at A&E as the season-three premiere brought in 8.6 million viewers, a record-high at the time.

Overall, the season has averaged 8.4 million viewers, which makes it the number one cable series of the year and the number two original series overall, trailing just behind AMC's zombie hit The Walking Dead.

Duck Dynasty is set to go back into production on a fourth season soon, with a premiere date yet to be announced.
