Thor's back for more!

The first official trailer for Thor: The Dark World, the highly anticipated sequel to Marvel's 2011 blockbuster hit, has hit the Web. And by the power of the gods, the titular hammer-wielding hero is about to embark on his most dangerous journey yet as a new enemy, the Dark Elves, aim to wreak havoc in the Nine Realms.

Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor, who reunites with his ladylove Jane Foster (Natalie Portman)—probably a good idea on his part considering he helped save the world in The Avengers and didn't bother to drop her a line.

Lucky for her, the Marvel superhero spirits her away to Asgard to protect her from the evil that threatens to rain down on planet Earth.

Dark World is set one year after the Norse god's adoptive brother and longtime nemesis, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), was soundly defeated at the end of that blockbuster film. Now Thor has no choice but to team up with him to stop the Elves in their tracks.

"You must be truly desperate to come to me for help," a worn-down Loki tells the crown prince of Asgard from his jail cell.

"You should know when you betray me, I will kill you," replies Thor, to which his sibling asks, "When do we start?"

How about Nov. 8, 2013? Because that's when Thor: The Dark World, directed by Game of Thrones' director Alan Taylor, is set to invade theaters.
