Jennifer Hudson has a friend in Jennifer Aniston.

The former Friends star asked the Dreamgirls Oscar winner to play a war veteran with post-traumatic stress disorder in Call Me Crazy, the new Lifetime movie coproduced by Aniston.

"Jennifer Aniston and I had been in talks about working together on different projects, and she presented me with a lot of different projects and this was one of them," Hudson said at the Crazy premiere earlier this week in West Hollywood. "So here we are, and hopefully this is the beginning."

When asked if their budding friendship means that Aniston has played babysitter to Hudson's three-year-old son David Jr., Hudson cracked, "Not yet, but that's next on my list."

As for Call Me Crazy, Hudson's character is not only dealing with her wartime experiences, but also a brutal rape comitted by her commanding officer.

"That was definitely intense," she said. "The whole role was very challenging."

Ernie Hudson, who plays Hudson's dad in the movie, was more than just impressed.

"I tip my hat to her for being able to let go of herself and the image and the glamour to get down to the truth and the reality," he said. "I really appreciate her willingness to go there."

Of course, we couldn't chat with Ms. Hudson without some talk about her svelte figure. While she looks as good as ever, that doesn't mean she doesn't stray from her Weight Watchers program.

"If I go indulge a little bit more, it's probably chocolate-chip cookies," Hudson said. "I love chocolate!"

A woman after our own hearts.
