Billy Ray Cyrus is in the dark just like the rest of us when it comes to the reportedly shaky status of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's engagement.
In a sit-down with ABC News' Nightline to promote his new book, Hillbilly Heart, the country singer admitted he didn't know if his 20-year-old pop star daughter planned to walk down the aisle with the 23-year-old actor.
"They're young. They're kids. The great news is they're great friends. They're really really good friends," he said. "And if you end up getting married, that's your business too, you know?"
"You think they will?" asked correspondent Bob Woodruff.
"I don't know," replied Billy.
When asked what Miley tells him about it, Cyrus remarked: "I play it by ear, and I know whatever's meant to be, that's the way it's gonna happen."
Rumors have surfaced over the last month or so that the younger Cyrus and Hemsworth were on verge of splitting, particularly after Liam spent several weeks in his native Australia with his family. However, a source told E! News that while things have been "rocky," the two aren't giving up and "both want it to work."
However it shakes out, no doubt dad will be there for her.
