Fresh from a UNICEF trip to Africa, Katy Perry is back in the U.S. and still helping out others.

The pop singing megastar was one of the many celebs to turn out last night for Coach's third annual Evening of Cocktails and Shopping benefit for the Children's Defense Fund at director J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot production offices in Santa Monica.

Looking fab in an adorable black Thakoon dress, Perry skipped the red carpet and headed directly to the rooftop terrace bash, where she mingled with Abrams (who cohosted the evening with his wife Katie McGrath and producer Bryan Burke), Orlando Bloom, Conan O'Brien, January Jones and funnyman Josh Gad. Special guest DJ for the night was Perry's longtime stylist Johnny Wujek.

Also attending were Joe Manganiello, Alice Eve, Kate Mara, Ariel Winter, Paula Patton, Diego Boneta, Colton Haynes, Holland Roden, Rosario Dawson, Chloë Sevigny, Milla Jovovich, Nikki Reed, Sophia Bush and Kevin Zegers.

"You find the time to do the things that you love and that you care about," said Abrams, who just completed the finished print of Star Trek Into Darkness on Monday. "Supporting the Children's Defense Fund is such an undeniably righteous thing to do that it's not really a choice."
