Mike Rice is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The Rutgers basketball coach was fired Wednesday, less than 24 hours after ESPN's Outside the Lines broadcast footage of him verbally and physically abusing his players.

Erin Andrews, a Fox Sports reporter, took to Twitter to express her frustration with the situation, writing, "The more I watch this Mike Rice footage, the more upset I get...why was this tolerated this long?"

And she wasn't the only one upset by Rice's behavior.

Before the coach's firing was confirmed, Donald Faison wrote, "Rutgers WTF?! Fire Mike Rice!!"

"#Rutgers Basketball coach Mike Rice should have been fired long ago when the incident occurred," Larry King tweeted, "his treatment of players was a disgrace."

Daniel Tosh (of Tosh.0) tweeted Tuesday, "mike rice, you and tim pernetti [Rutgers' Athletics Director] will be fired. i am the moral high ground. #newtosh"

ESPN analyst Dick Vitale guessed Tuesday that Rice was "a goner" and suggested Rutgers hire Minnesota's coach, Richard Pitino, "a rising STAR [who's] Young /energetic."

Tennis player Mardy Fish wrote, "Mike Rice... Change occupations... Perhaps dodgeball??" Andy Roddick retweeted Fish, adding, "If you can dodge a wrench you can dodge a ball."
