Louisville beat Duke during Sunday's Elite Eight college basketball game, but it wasn't exactly a celebratory occasion for the Cardinals.

Midway through the game, Louisville star Kevin Ware suffered a gruesome leg injury. Players from both teams were visibly distraught as the 20-year-old guard was taken away on a stretcher.

Ware underwent surgery Sunday night, and his coach, Rick Pitino, told reporters the athlete would be out of commission for a year. Assuming there were no nerve complications or infections, Ware could be back on the court next season.

When the Cardinals beat the Blue Devils 85-63, they honored their fallen teammate by holding up his jersey as they receIved their award. They even managed to get the NCAA Midwest Regional trophy to Ware in the hospital as he recovered.

But Ware's teammates weren't the only ones lending their support. Celebs took to Twitter to send the athlete their prayers and well-wishes.

Lil Wayne: "May God be with Kevin Ware and his family. Ya in my prayers bro."

Brad Paisley: "Man Oh Man Oh Man Oh Man.....That Kevin Ware Leg break is unreal. Sad for him. They seem like a great team though."

Holly Robinson Peete: "Sending up #Prayers For Louisville's Kevin Ware leg injury, players emotional."
