#happybirthday, Twitter!

The popular social media site is celebrating its 7th birthday today, and in honor of the epic anniversary, we're counting down the most followed users and the most retweeted tweets.

Of course, Justin Bieber takes the cake for the most followers, with over 36 million fans on his micro-blogging page. The singer recently surpassed Lady Gaga in the Twitter popularity contest, but the "Born This Way" babe still comes in a close second with 35 million little monsters.

Pop star Katy Perry is the only other user who can boost followers in the 30-million-range, while Rihanna and Barack Obama snag fourth and fifth place, respectively, with around 28 million fans.

As for the most retweeted tweets?

Unsurprisingly, the POTUS' much-buzzed about "four more years" post and pic is the most retweeted tweet on social media to date, with over 800,000 RTs and 300,000 favorites.

The Bieb's "RIP Avalanna" tweet lands in second place with nearly 250,000 retweets. The 6-year-old girl, who fans referred to as Mrs. Bieber, lost her battle to cancer in September, and the topic was trending for a large portion of the day.

The third most popular tweet is a bit more surprising as it hails from the Wendy's Twitter account, even though the fast food chain has less than 200,000 followers.

"RT for a good cause. Each retweet sends 50¢ to help kids in foster care. #TreatItFwd," the burger joint wrote to the tune of over 200,000 retweets.

Ah, the power of social media—spreading the word 140 characters at a time.
