The music mogul not only opened up to fans about the future of the U.K. and U.S. editions of The X Factor, but also offered up some deeply philosophical reflections about life and the things he's thankful for.
Regarding the popular talent contest, which saw less than stellar ratings last year despite Britney Spears at the judges' table, the 53-year-old Cowell revealed that "changes" are afoot, though as to what kind and how much in the way of revamping he didn't say.
""Just finished my calls to la. I wanted to apologise about not tweeting recently. I have been focusing a lot on work," he tweeted.
The judging panel for the stateside version remains up in the air after the Spears' departure in January, which was fine with Cowell, who had expressed unhappiness with the pop star, reportedly calling her "boring." L.A. Reid is also out, leaving just Simon and Demi Lovato.
After giving an X Factor update, Cowell then commended the show's former stars One Direction and James Arthur before getting surprisingly sentimental.
"And with everything I have been working on it made me realise that your friends and family are still the most important things in your life," he wrote. "Sorry to cram all this in. Have read some strange things about me recently. I am happy. Healthy. And enjoying life. Hope you are too."
But Cowell wasn't done there.
"What I have realised is there will be bumps in your life but the fun is fixing them. If it was always easy life would be boring," he said.
No word exactly what "strange things" Simon's referring to—unless you count his fake marriage recently to British comic David Walliams in honor of Red Nose Day to raise money for the U.K.-based charity Comic Relief.
If anything, Cowell's empire continues to expand. His latest project is The You Generation, which finds the pop titan partnering with YouTube to search for new talent. It premieres exclusively on the video-sharing site tomorrow.
In any case, Cowell wrapped up his Twitter barrage feeling quite grateful.
"I was a little deep tonight but it was one of those nights you realise you have a lot to be thankful for," he tweeted.
