It's because of him, she's suing.

A woman who claims Ne-Yo falsely portrayed her and their relationship on VH1's Behind The Music has slapped the R&B star with a defamation lawsuit.

According to the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by E! News, Jessica White alleges that the Sept. 23, 2012 episode in question presented a slanderous narrative based on "false information" Ne-Yo provided.

Court documents state that the show wrongly painted White as an "unchaste woman who deliberately tricked [the singer] into believing he was the father of her child, Chimere, so that she could fraudulently bilk him of 'ungodly amounts of money.'"

White's complaint went on to add that Ne-Yo represented her as demanding when her "extreme child support demands went unmet."

She also alleged in the paperwork that she told the "Because of You" singer that the child might not be his and that she was the one who wanted a paternity test.

Ne-Yo signed a declaration of paternity and supported White and Chimere from 2004 through 2007 as well as paid her a settlement in 2009.

White's seeking unspecified damages from the entertainer, whose full name is Shaffer Chimere Smith.

Other causes of action include intentional infliction of emotional distress, false light portrayal and breach of contract.

A lawyer for Ne-Yo was unavailable for comment.
