UPDATE: Morrissey's rep, Lauren Papapietro, told E! News that Morrissey "is not hospitalized in San Francisco," but she did confirm that he was suffering from double pneumonia, which resulted in the reshuffling of his tour itinerary.

________

Morrissey is ailing again.

The Smiths' former frontman was hospitalized in San Francisco over the weekend, forcing him to postpone a concert that was scheduled for Saturday night to May 1.

"Due to Morrissey's medical condition, tonight's engagement at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco will need to be rescheduled and will now take place on May 1," read an update on his Facebook page, adding that all tickets purchased for the original gig will be honored on the new date.

According to a release posted Sunday on True To You, a Morrissey webzine which has issued statements from the singer in the past, Morrissey "is presently being treated in San Francisco for 'double pneumonia,' but remains on court to headline the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City on March 14."

This is the second time in less than two months that the 53-year-old British rocker has been felled by an illness.

He was previously hospitalized in Michigan in January for what turned out to be a bleeding ulcer, prompting him to reschedule a string of shows in cities like Chicago, Minneapolis and Atlanta.

Morrissey subsequently resumed the tour on Feb. 9 in Las Vegas. The English crooner then made headlines a couple of weeks ago after pulling out of a planned performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to protest his fellow guests, the duck-hunting stars of the A&E reality hit Duck Dynasty.

Morrissey's latest release also offered an apology to fans apparently for what he called the "extreme and silly" security at Portland's Arlene Schnitzer Theater where he played on Friday.

Said the singer: "Place an obese McDonalds fry-girl into a venue security uniform and she is suddenly Eva Braun."

At least he hasn't lost his sardonic sense of humor. Get well, Morrissey!
