It appears all is forgiven.
Brett Ratner will be honored with the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's inaugural Ally Award this weekend at the group's 24th annual Media Awards.
If you recall, the Tower Heist director stepped down as producer of the 2012 Oscars telecast after making a gay slur.
However, Ratner has clearly made an effort to make amends, including teaming up with GLAAD on a video campaign supporting the gay community and promoting equality. The PSA will debut during the March 16 ceremony.
"In terms of an ally and what someone can do after an incident that was negative like that, I've never worked with someone who displayed such genuine interest in helping the community," GLAAD president Herndon Graddick told The Hollywood Reporter. "There's no one who deserves this more than Brett does. GLAAD's interest is in bringing allies in to join us in our fight for total equality, and he really did that. I now consider him a friend."
success!
