Good news for fans of serial killer dramas—and laughs!

Fox has picked up the freshman shows The Following and The Mindy Project as well as returning shows New Girl and Raising Hope for the 2013-14 season, the network president's Kevin Reilly announced today. This will be New Girl's third season, while Raising Hope is returning for its fourth season. The Mindy Project, which was created by Mindy Kaling, will return for a second season after averaging 4 million viewers in its freshman run.

"We love working with these talented producers and casts who, week after week, create some of the funniest work on television," Reilly said of the three renewed comedies in a statement. "These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the FOX comedy brand next season and beyond."

The Following, which stars Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy, has been a breakout hit for Fox, becoming the number two broadcast drama this season since its debut in January, averaging 11.7 million viewers.

"From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding," Reilly said. "Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I'm delighted to have this thrill ride continue on FOX for another season."

Fox has already renewed Bones for a ninth season, while an official announcement has yet to be made about Glee's fifth season. Freshman comedy Ben & Kate was officially canceled in January.
