The stars were out in full force at last night's Independent Spirit Awards.

After congratulating E!'s own Kristina Guerrero on her pregnancy, Kerry Washington said she is "really proud" to be a part of Django Unchained and that starting her career off in independent film helped shape her body of acting work.

"My very first feature, Our Song, was an independent film that was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award," the Scandal star said. "I always feel like I was able to start off my career on the right foot by starting off in independent film because that's where the real work ethic is and that's where the real artistry is, and every now and then you're lucky with a movie like Django Unchained to do a studio film that's filled with just as much artistry and passion.

Meanwhile, calling himself "Mr. Independent" and "Mr. Unemployed," Bruce Willis, who attended the awards show with his wife, Emma Heming, dished on the couple's 10-month-old baby girl, Mabel.

"She's mischievous," said the Die Hard star, who was nominated for best supporting actor for Moonrise Kingdom. "You never know what these kids are going to do."

"She's amazing," Heming added, saying Willis is "a great dad."

The couple welcomed their first child together last April.
