The Material Girl just out-earned the Boss over the last year.

Madonna performed her way to the top of Billboard's 2013 list of the top 40 moneymakers in music, which combines album sales, touring revenue, publishing and all the other little ways the profits pile up for these world-famous stars.

Though MDNA wasn't a huge album for Madonna, her MDNA Tour was a raging success, enough to give her sole possession of first place with roughly $34.7 million.

Bruce Springsteen was nipping at her majorette boots, however, with $33.4 million, his Wrecking Ball Tour's nearly $200 million gross second only to MDNA's $305 million.

Further proving that longevity will get you everywhere (and that people love The Dark Side of the Moon), Roger Waters came in at No. 3 with $21.2 million, outpacing No. 4, the once again David Lee Roth-fronted Van Halen, by about $1 million. (Just think what might have been if Van Halen hadn't pulled the plug on its tour early...)

The tireless Kenny Chesney was No. 5 with a little over $19.1 million, and then Dave Matthews Band, Tim McGraw, Jason Aldean, Coldplay and Justin Bieber rounded out the top 10, the biggest gap being between Coldplay's $17.3 million and Bieber's $15.9 million.

But, not to worry, he's still a growing boy.

Fun fact: Mumford & Sons, the Grammy winner for Album of the Year, came in at No. 39 with $6.2 million, so it should be interesting to see how their 2013 unfolds as they perform for the now more aware masses.
