Forget Honest Abe. Check out Honest Hugh Jackman.

While stopping by to chat with David Letterman on Wednesday's The Late Show, the Oscar nominee didn't hesitate to explain why he opted to appear looking very much like a certain U.S. president.

"It's grubby. I'm not proud of it. I wanted to sway a few last-minute Oscar voters. I'll be honest," said the Les Misérables star.

Jackman then asked, "I mean, really, can Daniel Day-Lewis do this?" before singing part of the Gettysburg Address.

Cute? Definitely. A little late? Yeah, kinda.

Unfortunately for Jackman, Oscar voting ended on Tuesday.
